Corris Access Road

RBA were commissioned to carry out detailed design for over 3km of new access road through a steeply sloping forestry site.

We used AutoCAD Civil 3D to design the horizontal and vertical geometry of the road, including turning heads and junctions, to provide the Client with a 3D model for setting out.

As a private road there were particular constraints and a bespoke specification for the geometry and construction build up, in order to accommodate the large industrial vehicles that would use the road.

RBA minimised the amount of earthworks required by following the existing contours as much as possible and identified where savings could be made from the tender design received.

Modifications to the design requested by the Client were easily and quickly performed in the 3D model, with all other information automatically being updated, such as long and cross sections being dynamically linked to the model.
