We are pleased to announce that Contractor, Castlemead, has this week started on site in Prestatyn for the construction of houses and apartments for Wales & West Housing. RBA were instrumental in getting planning approval for this development, despite significant flood risk challenges associated with potential future tidal flooding scenarios and to safeguard the new development whilst not affecting those properties which surround the former police station site.
RBA, working with JPH Architects, have carried out the pre-tender Civil, Structural and Highway engineering design before novation to the Contractor.
Managing Director, David Ellis, says “There is a chronic shortage of affordable housing in North Wales and I am pleased that our flood risk experts were able to successfully demonstrate the impact of the potential tidal flooding scenario and design a scheme that can safely accommodate and mitigate the flood risks, whilst not impacting on surrounding development. This allowed the site to be released for new development and it has been great to work with Wales & West Housing, SP Projects, JPH Architects and Castlemead in getting this scheme to site.”
